The curriculum used in Level II GATE Services (Pull-out services) is designed to align with the The Texas state goal for services for gifted/talented students: "Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience or environment." GATE standards for self-directed learning, critical & creative thinking strategies, guided & independent research, social-emotional well being, and elements of Depth and Complexity have been developed for primary and intermediate GATE students. In addition, a universal concept with generalizations is explored each school year. Students engage in multiple project-based and problem-based learning experiences.
Students who actively participate in Level II GATE Services will receive a progress report at the end of each quarter grading period that measures their progress/performance in response to GATE services. GATE Progress Reports will be posted in Skyward along with the student's report card.
