    Slide 2 Battle of the Books Goals and Objectives. 1. Increase reading comprehension and critical thinking. 2. Encourage team competition and collaboration. 3. Highlight academic competition and the preparation required. 4. Gain high-quality books for 91ÖÆƬ³§ libraries

    Slide 3 Each campus has two teams. A Primary Team Kinder - third grade who read ten books. An intermediate team in fourth - fifth grade read seven books.

    Slide 5 How Students Participate. Read all of the books at their level. Take a test on books. Then, Battle of the Books coaches select the team members using several criteria, including a test score.

    Slide 6 The district provides multiple physical and eBook copies of the Battle of the Books for each campus. The public libraries that serve our district also have multiple copies for checkout.

    Slides 6-7 The competition is held at W.G. Willey Coliseum, 91ÖÆƬ³§.

    Slides 8-10 There are two rounds (Primary and Intermediate) of twenty questions.

    Slide 11 Teams hold up the book's name to show their answer.

    Slide 12 Teams can challenge the correct answer if they feel that they can prove another book applies.

    Slide 14 Awards. Primary Awards include 1st place Primary, 1st Place Runner up, 2nd Place Runner up, and 3rd place runner-up. Intermediate awards include 1st place Intermediate, 1st Place Runner up, 2nd Place Runner up, and 3rd place Runner up.
