The   includes annual assessments in science at grades 5 and 8 and an end of course assessment for biology.

The 5th grade STAAR science test includes 44 questions reported in 4 categories: matter and energy; force, motion, and energy; Earth and space science; organisms and environments. The 8th grade STAAR science test includes 54 questions reported in the same 4 categories. The 5th and 8th grade STAAR exams will be administered in late April.  Additional information on the STAAR exams can be found on the  website.  

All STAAR and EOC assessments will include embedded field-test items.  Performance on field-test questions is not part of the students’ reported test scores.
